The Van Buren stainless steel sounds are about 27cm (10.5 inches) long and are J-shaped with a single curve near the tip. The flat handle side is made for holding and is easier to maneuver. Many recommend this as a starter sounds kit because the J shape prevents sound from "getting lost" and the width of these sounds are reasonable.

Note these sounds have now a slighter curve than in picutre.

You can now purchase this kit in two size sets: small (which run from 8 to 22 french) and large (which run from 18-32 french). The sounds are protected in a velvet-lined zipper case.
